PEER ASSESSMENT OF TEACHING AND LEARNING ENHANCEMENT COMMITTEE

The College Peer Assessment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement Committee serves as a means for enhancement to better development of teaching and learning through the spirit of collegiality, support, and mentorship. The committee aims at creating within the college, a structured process for mentorship and peer assessment of teaching to be used as a mechanism for supporting faculty development, enhancing teaching, and learning quality.

Decision-Making & Voting Right

The committee adopts a collaborative decision-making approach. Every member has voting rights including students. A simple majority, defined as more than 50%, is necessary for the approval of any given decision.

Responsibilities

The committee supports and advises the College regarding policies and procedure related to teaching and learning issues including:

  • Developing and recommending peer assessment forms and reporting system.

  • Preparing and providing peer review schedule for teaching for every faculty member.

  • Recommending peer reviewers to the Dean of the College for each faculty member.

  • Holding face-to-face meetings with the faculty member after the teaching observation session.

  • Creating a culture at college to develop faculty members.

  • Recommending faculty members with outstanding teaching abilities/skills for professional development seminars or workshops (i.e. Teaching and Learning Enhancement Seminars and workshops).
